...for God to change lives through us

Mid Week Devotion

This morning when my husband and I walked along the back roads, we came upon a doe and her fawn in the middle of a blacktop four- way intersection. The doe, upon hearing us approach, even though she couldn’t see us, still felt danger was upon her and her young one. She had him lay down in the road and with her nose pressed upon him, encouraged him to lie flat. She ran a few feet away and stopped to watch. We hesitated for a moment and determined from a distance that the fawn was fine. We turned around and started back down the road. Momma watched us for several feet and then – zoom – she ran back to her baby.
We talked on the way back to the house that she didn’t make a very good choice, in leaving him in the middle of a busy intersection, an intersection that gets heavy traffic, including big trucks, due to a current detour. But then, driving past the intersection later, my husband found that they were no longer in the road. So, maybe she did know what was best – even though it didn’t appear so to us human beings.
Are we like that with God’s decisions? We feel like we have been left in the middle of a busy intersection with heavy traffic eminent. However, if we remain true to our faith and trust God, we find that He has brought us safely through a difficult time.
“Just like a deer that craves streams of water, my whole being craves you, God. My whole being thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42-1-2)
Prayer: Lord, May we be as the little fawn trusting his mother, and trust Your judgment, Your decisions, and Your direction. Help us to trust You more and not rely on making decisions without Your direction, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
